     Sir Wyndham Knatchbull, 12th Bt. was born on 9 August 1844.1 He was the son of Sir Norton Joseph Knatchbull, 10th Bt. and Mary Watts-Russell.1 He married Margaret Elizabeth Taylor, daughter of Charles Taylor, on 18 March 1902.2 He died on 30 July 1917 at age 72.2
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was a barrister.1 He was a civil servant for the General Post Office.1 He succeeded as the 12th Baronet Knatchbull, of Mersham Hatch, co. Kent [E., 1641] on 30 May 1871.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for East Kent between 1875 and 1876.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Kent.2

     Richard Knatchbull was born in 1431.2 He was the son of Thomas Knatchbull and Eleanor Brockman.1,2 He married Catherine Lewknor, daughter of Sir Thomas Lewknor. He died in 1504.2
     In 1487 he bought the estate at Mersham Hatch, Kent from the Edwards family.1
