     Ian ‘Breac’ Macleod, 18th of MacLeod was born in 1637.2 He was the son of Ian ‘Mor’ Macleod, 16th of MacLeod and Sybella Mackenzie.2 He married Florence Macdonald, daughter of Sir James ‘Mor’ Macdonald, 9th of Sleat, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Mackenzie.2 He died in 1693.2
     He held the office of Chief of the Clan Macleod, 18th.1 He rehabilitated the financial affairs of the clan.2 Ian ‘Breac’ Macleod, 18th of MacLeod also went by the nick-name of Ian ‘Breac’ (or in English, ‘the Spotted’), probably as a result of smallpox.2
