Alexander Borthwick was born on 28 February 1839.¹ He was the son of John Borthwick, 13th of Crookston and Elizabeth Sutherland Dallas.¹ He married Katherine Thistlethwayte, daughter of Thomas Thistlethwayte and Elizabeth Catherine Pakenham, on 20 July 1876.¹ He died on 6 October 1914 at age 75.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Rifle Brigade.¹ He was Chief Constable of Lothians and Peebles.¹ He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.)¹

     Katherine Thistlethwayte was the daughter of Thomas Thistlethwayte and Elizabeth Catherine Pakenham.¹ She married Lt.-Col. Alexander Borthwick, son of John Borthwick, 13th of Crookston and Elizabeth Sutherland Dallas, on 20 July 1876.¹ She died on 19 April 1941.¹
     From 20 July 1876, her married name became Borthwick.¹

     Thomas Thistlethwayte was born on 4 December 1809.² He was the son of Thomas Thistlethwayte.² He married Elizabeth Catherine Pakenham, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Hon. Sir Hercules Robert Pakenham and Hon. Emily Stapleton, on 6 August 1850.³ He died on 1 January 1900 at age 90.²
     He lived at Southwick Park, Hampshire, England^G.¹

     Elizabeth Catherine Pakenham was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Hon. Sir Hercules Robert Pakenham and Hon. Emily Stapleton.^1,2 She married Thomas Thistlethwayte, son of Thomas Thistlethwayte, on 6 August 1850.² She died on 22 January 1885.²
     From 6 August 1850, her married name became Thistlethwayte.¹

     Frank Hugh Pakenham Borthwick-Norton was born on 23 July 1877.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Alexander Borthwick and Katherine Thistlethwayte.¹ He married Eva Sardinia Burrows, daughter of George Burrows, on 5 January 1944.¹ He died on 5 October 1959 at age 82, without issue.¹
     He was given the name of Frank Hugh Pakenham Borthwick at birth.¹ On 28 April 1944 his name was legally changed to Frank Hugh Pakenham Borthwick-Norton.¹ He lived at Borthwick Hall, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He lived at Southwick House, Purbrook, Hampshire, England^G.¹

     Eva Sardinia Burrows is the daughter of George Burrows.¹ She married Frank Hugh Pakenham Borthwick-Norton, son of Lt.-Col. Alexander Borthwick and Katherine Thistlethwayte, on 5 January 1944.¹
     From 28 April 1944, her married name became Borthwick-Norton.¹

     George Burrows lived at Burston, Norfolk, England^G.¹

     Arthur Sandilands Borthwick was born on 26 December 1879.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Alexander Borthwick and Katherine Thistlethwayte.¹ He married Vera Janet Hervey, daughter of William Bethel-Hervey, on 14 July 1910.¹
     He fought in the Boer War.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹

     Vera Janet Hervey is the daughter of William Bethel-Hervey.¹ She married Arthur Sandilands Borthwick, son of Lt.-Col. Alexander Borthwick and Katherine Thistlethwayte, on 14 July 1910.¹
     From 14 July 1910, her married name became Borthwick.¹
