George Palmer1 
He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England.3 He wrote the book Memoir of a Chart from the Strait of Allass to the Island Bouro, published 1799.2 He held the office of Sheriff of Hertfordshire in 1818.2 Between 1826 and 1858 he designed the lifeboat in general use by the National Lifeboat Institution up until 1858.3 He wrote the book A New Plan for fitting all Boats so that they may be secure as Life Boats at the shortest notice, published 1828.2 He was deputy chairman of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution between 1828 and 1853.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for South Essex between 1836 and 1847.4 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)3 He lived at Nazeing Park, Essex, England.3 He had one other son.3
