Sir Robert Bernard, 1st Bt. was born in 1601 at Kingsthorpe, Northamptonshire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Francis Bernard and Mary Woodhouse.1,2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Tolcarne, daughter of Sir John Tolcarne, before 1630.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Altham, daughter of Sir James Altham and Mary Stapers, after 1642.3 He died in 1666.1
He was a barrister.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Huntingdon from April 1640 to May 1640.1 He held the office of Judge of the Court of the Isle of Ely in 1649.1 He was created 1st Baronet Bernard, of Huntingdon, Hunts. [England] on 1 July 1662.1
