Sir Ernest Nathaniel Bennett1
He was educated between 1881 and 1885 at Durham School, Durham, County Durham, EnglandG.2 He graduated from Hertford College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1889 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He wrote the book The Downfall of the Dervishes, published 1898.2 He fought in the Boer War, as an orderly in the Royal Army Medical Corps volunteer Ambulance train.2 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in May 1900 in the 1st (Oxford University) Volunteer Battalion, Oxfordshire Light Infantry.2 He gained the rank of Temporary Lieutenant in 1902 in the Oxfordshire Volunteers in the Orange River Coloby.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Oxfordshire, Woodstock Division between 1906 and 1910.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Oxfordshire between 1909 and 1936.2 He wrote the book With the Turks in Tripoli, published 1912.2 He fought in the First World War.2 He wrote the book Apollonius, or The Present and Future of Psychical Research, published 1927.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) between 1929 and May 1946.2 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1930.2 He was Assistant Postmaster-General from October 1932 to December 1935.2 He lived in 1937 at Cwmllecoediog, Aberangell, Machynlleth, Montgomeryshire, WalesG.1 He wrote the book Apparitions and Haunted Houses: a Survey of Evidence, published 1939.2

Eleanor Dutton was born in 1596.2 She was the daughter of Thomas Dutton and Thomasine Anderton.1,3 She married, firstly, Gilbert Gerard, 2nd Baron Gerard of Gerard’s Bromley, son of Thomas Gerard, 1st Baron Gerard of Gerard’s Bromley and Alice Rivet, on 16 September 1609 at Dutton, Cheshire, EnglandG.4 She married, secondly, Robert Needham, 2nd Viscount Kilmorey, son of Robert Needham, 1st Viscount Kilmorey and Jane Lacy, circa 31 October 1636.5 She died on 12 March 1657.5
From 16 September 1609, her married name became Gerard. From circa 31 October 1636, her married name became Needham.1 After her marriage, Eleanor Dutton was styled as Viscountess Kilmorey circa 31 October 1636.
