He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.4 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Ganzoni, of Ipswich, co. Suffolk [U.K., 1929] on 15 August 1958.4 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Belstead, of Ipswich, co. Suffolk [U.K., 1938] on 15 August 1958.4 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1961 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)4,1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Ipswich in 1962.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Suffolk between 1979 and 1994.1 He held the office of Minister of State, Foreign Office between 1982 and 1983.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1983.1 He held the office of Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food between 1983 and 1987.3 He held the office of Minister of State, Department of the Environment between 1987 and 1988.3 He held the office of Lord Privy Seal between 1988 and 1990.1 He became a Honorary Freeman of the City of London in 1990.1 He held the office of Paymaster-General between 1990 and 1992.1 He held the office of Minister of State, Northern Ireland between 1990 and 1992.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Suffolk between 1994 and 2005.1 He was created Baron Ganzoni, of Ipswich in the County of Suffolk [U.K. Life Peer] on 17 November 1999.5
On his death, his titles became extinct.3

Francis John Childs Ganzoni, 1st Baron Belstead was born on 19 January 1882 at London, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Julius Charles Ganzoni and Mary Frances Childs.1 He married Gwendolen Gertrude Turner, daughter of Arthur Turner and Gertrude Ridley, on 31 May 1930 at Ipswich, Suffolk, EnglandG. He died on 15 August 1958 at age 76.3
He was educated at Tonbridge School, Tonbridge, Kent, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1906 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1906 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He fought in the First World War in 1914.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Unionist) for Ipswich between 1914 and 1923.1 He was appointed Knight on 25 June 1921.1 He held the office of Chairman of the Private Bills Commitee between 1923 and 1938.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Private Secretary between 1924 and 1929, to the Postmaster-General.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Unionist) for Ipswich between 1924 and 1938.1 He was created 1st Baronet Ganzoni, of Ipswich, co. Suffolk [U.K.] on 22 March 1929.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Suffolk.4 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.)4 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Suffolk.4 He was created 1st Baron Belstead, of Ipswich, co. Suffolk [U.K.] on 27 January 1938.1
