     William Gordon Cardew is the son of Lt.-Col. George Masters Cardew.² He married Hon. Bridget Vera Byng, daughter of George Stanley Byng, 8th Viscount Torrington and Alice Arabella Jameson, on 22 February 1919.¹
     He gained the rank of officer in the Army Cyclist Corps.²

     Emmeline St. Maur Seymour was born on 23 September 1860 at Brighton, Sussex, England^G.^2,3 She was the daughter of Reverend Henry Seymour and Susanah Biscoe Tritton.^2,3 She married George Stanley Byng, 8th Viscount Torrington, son of Hon. Robert Barlow Palmer Byng and Elizabeth Maria Lowther Gwatkin, on 3 February 1885.¹ She died on 7 June 1912 at age 51.⁴
     From 3 February 1885, her married name became Byng. After her marriage, Emmeline St. Maur Seymour was styled as Viscountess Torrington on 3 February 1885.

     George Byng, 9th Viscount Torrington was born on 10 September 1886.¹ He was the son of George Stanley Byng, 8th Viscount Torrington and Emmeline St. Maur Seymour.¹ He married, firstly, Eleanor Souray, daughter of Edwin Souray, on 29 September 1910.¹ He married, secondly, Nora Elizabeth Ursula Wood-Pottle, daughter of Robert Wood-Pottle, in 1923.¹ He and Eleanor Souray were divorced in 1921.² He died on 24 April 1944 at age 57.¹ He was also reported to have died without issue on 24 May 1944.²
     He succeeded as the 9th Viscount Torrington, co. Devon [G.B., 1721] on 20 October 1889.² He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Byng, of Wrotham, Kent [G.B., 1715] on 20 October 1889.² He succeeded as the 9th Baron Byng of Southill, co. Bedford [G.B., 1721] on 20 October 1889.² He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.² He held the office of Page of Honour to HM Queen Victoria between 1899 and 1901.² He held the office of Page of Honour to HM King Edward VII between 1901 and 1903.² He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1906 in the Rifle Brigade.² He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1914 in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.² He fought in the First World War.² He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Air Force.²

     Eleanor Souray was the daughter of Edwin Souray.² She married George Byng, 9th Viscount Torrington, son of George Stanley Byng, 8th Viscount Torrington and Emmeline St. Maur Seymour, on 29 September 1910.¹ She and George Byng, 9th Viscount Torrington were divorced in 1921.³ She died on 8 December 1931, committed suicide by coal-gas poisoning while of unsound mind.¹
     She was an actress (a Gaiety Girl.)³ After her marriage, Eleanor Souray was styled as Viscountess Torrington on 29 September 1910. From 29 September 1910, her married name became Byng.¹

     Nora Elizabeth Ursula Wood-Pottle was the daughter of Robert Wood-Pottle.² She married George Byng, 9th Viscount Torrington, son of George Stanley Byng, 8th Viscount Torrington and Emmeline St. Maur Seymour, in 1923.¹ She died on 29 January 1968.¹
     After her marriage, Nora Elizabeth Ursula Wood-Pottle was styled as Viscountess Torrington in 1923. From 1923, her married name became Byng.¹

     Hon. Robert Lowther Byng was born on 29 July 1842.¹ He was the son of Hon. Robert Barlow Palmer Byng and Elizabeth Maria Lowther Gwatkin.¹ He died on 15 October 1886 at age 44.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.² In 1884 he was granted the rank of a viscount’s younger son.²

     Hon. Sydney Byng was born on 9 April 1844.¹ He was the son of Hon. Robert Barlow Palmer Byng and Elizabeth Maria Lowther Gwatkin.¹ He married Annie Sebright Chellingworth, daughter of Henry Chellingworth, on 21 June 1871.¹ He died on 27 February 1920 at age 75.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 104th Foot.² In 1884 he was granted the rank of a viscount’s younger son.²

     Annie Sebright Chellingworth was the daughter of Henry Chellingworth.² She married Hon. Sydney Byng, son of Hon. Robert Barlow Palmer Byng and Elizabeth Maria Lowther Gwatkin, on 21 June 1871.¹ She died on 4 February 1926.¹
     From 21 June 1871, her married name became Byng.¹

     Arthur Stanley Byng, 10th Viscount Torrington was born on 23 July 1876.¹ He was the son of Hon. Sydney Byng and Annie Sebright Chellingworth.¹ He married, secondly, Rosamond Ella Davidson, daughter of Vice-Admiral Alexander Percy Davidson, on 17 March 1936.² He and Rosamond Ella Davidson were divorced in 1952.² He married, firstly, Louise Annette Rawlins, daughter of Joseph Rawlins and Mary Jane Annette St. George, on 14 January 1909.² He and Louise Annette Rawlins were divorced in 1936.² He died on 28 November 1961 at age 85.¹
     He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902.² He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel between 1917 and 1920 in the Royal Army Service Corps.² He succeeded as the 10th Baron Byng of Southill, co. Bedford [G.B., 1721] on 24 April 1944.² He succeeded as the 10th Viscount Torrington, co. Devon [G.B., 1721] on 24 April 1944.² He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Byng, of Wrotham, Kent [G.B., 1715] on 24 April 1944.²

     Louise Annette Rawlins was baptised on 20 February 1879 at Melksham, Wiltshire, England.² She was the daughter of Joseph Rawlins and Mary Jane Annette St. George.³ She married Arthur Stanley Byng, 10th Viscount Torrington, son of Hon. Sydney Byng and Annie Sebright Chellingworth, on 14 January 1909.⁴ She and Arthur Stanley Byng, 10th Viscount Torrington were divorced in 1936.⁴ She died on 11 October 1961 at age 82.¹
     From 14 January 1909, her married name became Byng.¹
