     Major Edmund Musgrave Barttelot was born on 28 March 1859 at Little Hilliers, Stopham, Sussex, England^G.² He was the son of Sir Walter Barttelot, 1st Bt. and Harriet Musgrave.¹ He died on 19 July 1888 at age 29 at Banalya, Congo^G, assassinated.²
     He was educated in 1872 at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England^G.² He was educated in 1877 at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England^G.² He fought in the Second Afghan War.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in January 1881 at Kandahar, Afghanistan^G, in the Royal Fusiliers.² He fought in the Gordon Relief Expedition between 1884 and 1885 at Egypt^G.² He fought in the Egyptian Campaign.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the 1st Battalion, Royal Fusiliers.¹ He was William Bonny, an explorer, named a butterfly after Edmund in 1887 at Central Africa^G.² He fought in the Emin Pasha Expedition in January 1887, in Africa.¹

     John Barttelot was born in 1555.² He was the son of Robert Barttelot and Mary Apsley.¹ He died, without issue.¹
