Sir David Burnett, 1st Bt.1 
He held the office of Sheriff of London between 1907 and 1908.3 He was appointed Knight in 1908.2 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the 1st City of London Royal Field Artillery (Territorial Forces.)2 He held the office of Lord Mayor of London between 1912 and 1913, when he bought Crystal Palace for the nation.2 He was created 1st Baronet Burnett, of Selborne House, in the Borough of Croydon [U.K.] on 17 October 1913.2 He was awarded the Grand Officier, Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Crown of Belgium.2
