     Lt.-Cdr. Archibald Gillespie Alexander was born on 29 March 1907.¹ He was the son of Sir Douglas Alexander, 1st Bt. and Helen Hamilton Gillespie.¹ He married Margery Isabel Griffith, daughter of Arthur Brown Griffith, on 17 June 1932.¹ He died in 1978.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in 1942 in the U.S. Coast Guard.¹

     Sir Douglas Alexander, 1st Bt. was born on 4 July 1864.¹ He was the son of Andrew Alexander and Harriet Newell Hayward.¹ He married Helen Hamilton Gillespie, daughter of George Hamilton Gillespie, on 28 September 1892.¹ He died on 22 May 1949 at age 84.¹
     He was a barrister in 1886 at Canada^G.¹ He was president of Singer Manufacturing Company between 1905 and 1949 at New York, U.S.A.^G.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Alexander, of Edgehill, Stamford, Connecticut, U.S.A. [U.K.] on 2 July 1921.¹

     Andrew Alexander was born on 29 July 1832.¹ He was the son of Andrew Alexander.¹ He married Harriet Newell Hayward, daughter of Samuel Hayward, on 28 June 1857.¹ He died on 8 November 1914 at age 82.¹

     From 28 September 1892, her married name became Alexander.¹

     George Hamilton Gillespie lived at Hamilton, Ontario, Canada^G.¹

     Sir Douglas Hamilton Alexander, 2nd Bt. was born on 6 June 1900.¹ He was the son of Sir Douglas Alexander, 1st Bt. and Helen Hamilton Gillespie.¹ He died in 1983.¹
     He graduated from Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, U.S.A.^G, in 1921 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Alexander, of Edgehill, Stamford, Connecticut, U.S.A. [U.K., 1921] on 22 May 1949.¹
