Major Esmé Nourse Erskine1 
Major Esmé Nourse Erskine was born in 1884.3 He was the son of St. Vincent Whitshed Erskine and Alice Lindley Buchanan.3 He married Elizabeth Susan Matilda Reinders, daughter of Hermanus Jan Reinders and Elizabeth Susanna Matilda Lane, on 14 April 1909 at Kimberley, Transvaal, South Africa.3,4 He died in 1962 at Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa.3,5
He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)3 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)3

He fought in the Third Burma War between 1885 and 1886.2 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Scots Fusiliers.1 He fought in the Tirah Campaign between 1897 and 1898.2 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Wigtownshire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Wigtownshire.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1902.1 He was Military Secretary to the Governor of Gibraltar between 1902 and 1905.2 He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) in 1903.1 He was admitted to Gentlemen-at-Arms in 1906.2 He fought in the First World War, in France.2 He fought in the Gallipoli Campaign.
