Alexander Stewart, 1st Earl of Galloway1
He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)3 He was created 1st Lord of Garlies [Scotland] on 19 July 1607.4 He was created 1st Earl of Galloway [Scotland] on 19 September 1623, with a special remainder to his heirs male bearing the name Stewart.4

Sir Andrew Agnew of Lochnaw, 3rd Bt.1
He held the office of Hereditary Sheriff of Galloway between 1671 and 1702, 10th.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Agnew, of Lochnaw, co. Wigtown [N.S., 1629] on 2 October 1671.1 In 1682 he was superseded as Sheriff for refusing to take the Test Act, but was restored on 25 Apri l 1689.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wigtownshire [Scotland] in 1685.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wigtownshire [Scotland] between 1689 and 1702.1

Lt.-Gen. Sir Andrew Agnew of Lochnaw, 5th Bt.1
He gained the rank of Cornet on 11 May 1705 in the Major Andrew Agnew’s troop, Royal Scottish Dragoons.2 He held the office of Hereditary Sheriff of Galloway between 1724 and 1747, 12th.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Agnew, of Lochnaw, co. Wigtown [N.S., 1629] on 9 March 1735.1 He was commander of the government troops at Blair Castle in 1745 against the young Chevalier.1 In 1747 he was awarded £4,000 on the abolition of all hereditary jurisdictions in Scotland.1 He held the office of Governor of Tynemouth Castle, Northumberland in 1750.1,2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1759.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)3 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.2
