     Alexander Russell on Moncoffer, Banff and Aden was born in 1723.1 He was the son of Alexander Russell of Moncoffer and Catherine Skene.1 He married, firstly, Margaret Hay, daughter of Charles Hay and Helen Fraser, in 1748.1 He married, secondly, Eliza Innes, daughter of Alexander Innes, in April 1767.1 He died in 1798.1
     In 1752 he sold Moncoffer to his cousin, William, Earl of Fife.1 In 1758 he bought Aden, Aberdeenshire.1 He matriculated on 5 February 1768 arms at L.O.1

     Margaret Hay was the daughter of Charles Hay and Helen Fraser.1,2 She married Alexander Russell on Moncoffer, Banff and Aden, son of Alexander Russell of Moncoffer and Catherine Skene, in 1748.1 She died in 1760.1
     From 1748, her married name became Russell.1
