Sir Archibald Acheson, 1st Bt.1 

Sir Archibald Acheson, 1st Bt. was born circa 1580 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.3 He was the son of Captain Patrick Acheson and Martha Drummond.1,3 He married, firstly, Agnes Vernor before 1610.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Hamilton, daughter of Sir John Hamilton and Johanna Everard, circa 1622.4 He married by contract, secondly, Margaret Hamilton, daughter of Sir John Hamilton and Johanna Everard, on 20 July 1619 at Clonekearney, County Armagh, IrelandG.5 He died on 9 September 1634 at house of Sir William Sempill, Letterkenny, County Donegal, IrelandG.1 He was buried on 8 October 1634 at Mullaghbracke, County Armagh, IrelandG.1
He emigrated to IrelandG arriving on 1610.5 He was naturalized as a denizen of Ireland on 12 February 1618.1 He was appointed Knight on 1 April 1620.1 He held the office of Master in Chancery [Ireland] on 27 June 1621.1 He was admitted to King’s Inn, Dublin on 16 November 1621.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Haddington Constabulary [Scotland] in 1625.1 He held the office of Lord of Session [Scotland] in 1627.1 He was created 1st Baronet Acheson, of Market Hill [in Clonekearney], co. Armagh [Nova Scotia] on 1 January 1628.1 He held the office of Secretary of State [Scotland] before 1634.1
