     Captain Charles Gordon was the son of Captain Peter Gordon.1 He married Rachel Gordon, 10th of Abergeldie, daughter of Alexander Gordon, 8th of Abergeldie and Euphemia Graham, circa 5 July 1698.1
     He lived at PitchaiseG.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1696 in the Lauder’s Foot.1 In 1715 he built the house at Birkhall that is now part of the Balmoral estate.1

     He was educated at Marischal College, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.1 He was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates on 4 June 1718 at Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.1 He was tutor (guardian of the estate) of Abergeldie from 1744 to 1745.1
