     Colonel Henry George Gore-Browne, V.C. was born on 30 September 1830 at Newtown, County Roscommon, IrelandG.2 He was the son of Arthur Browne and Anna Elizabeth Clements.3 He married Jane Anne Seely, daughter of Charles Seely and Mary Hilton, on 10 April 1882.4 He died on 15 November 1912 at age 82 at Shanklin, Isle of Wight, EnglandG.2 He was buried at St. Mary the Virgin, Brook, Isle of Wight, EnglandG.2
     He was given the name of Henry George Browne at birth.3 He gained the rank of Captain in the 32nd Regiment.2 He fought in the Siege of Lucknow in 1857.2 He was awarded the Victoria Cross (V.C.) on 20 June 1862, for his actions on 21 August 1857.1,2 In 1902 his name was legally changed to Henry George Gore-Browne by Deed Poll.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 100th Regiment.3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Hampshire.3 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hampshire.1 He held the office of Deputy-Governor of Isle of Wight in 1912.3
