She was the daughter of Nikola I Petrovic-Njegoš, King of Montenegro and Milena Vukotic.1 She married Franz Joseph Prinz von Battenberg, son of Alexander Ludwig Georg Friedrich Emil Prinz von Hessen und bei Rhein and Julie Therese Gräfin von Hauke, on 18 May 1897.2 She died on 22 April 1971 at age 96 at Montreux, SwitzerlandG.3
     She gained the title of Princess Ana of Montenegro.

     Franz Joseph Prinz von Battenberg was born on 24 September 1861 at Padua, ItalyG.2 He was the son of Alexander Ludwig Georg Friedrich Emil Prinz von Hessen und bei Rhein and Julie Therese Gräfin von Hauke.3 He married Ana Petrovic-Njegoš, Princess of Montenegro, daughter of Nikola I Petrovic-Njegoš, King of Montenegro and Milena Vukotic, on 18 May 1897.3 He died on 31 July 1924 at age 62.2
     Franz Joseph Prinz von Battenberg also went by the nick-name of Franzjos. He gained the title of Prinz von Battenberg.4 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Hessian Infantry.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 1st Bulgarian Cavalry.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)2 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.)2 He was awarded the Knight, Order of Annunciation of Italy.2

     He gained the title of Grand Voivode Petar of Zahumlije.1
