     He gained the rank of Captain in the Bengal Army.² He gained the rank of Major-General.¹

     Katherine Augusta Westenra Macleod was baptised on 2 March 1823 at St. Nicholas, Rochester, Kent, England.² She was born in 1823 at Chatham, Kent, England^G.³ She was the daughter of Captain Donald Macleod and Caroline Sophia Bennett.^1,3 She married Maj.-Gen. Octavius Douglas-Hamilton, son of Augustus Barrington Price Anne Powell Hamilton and Maria Catherine Hyde, on 29 June 1852 at Lewisham, Kent, England.^1,2 She died on 30 November 1902 at age 79.¹
     From 29 June 1852, her married name became Douglas-Hamilton.

     Venerable Hamilton Anne Douglas-Hamilton was born on 28 May 1853 at Simla, India^G.^1,2 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Octavius Douglas-Hamilton and Katherine Augusta Westenra Macleod.¹ He married, firstly, Lillie Bowles, daughter of Joseph Bowles and Ann (?), on 26 October 1875.¹ He married, secondly, Hon. Agnes Rosamund Bateman-Hanbury, daughter of William Bateman-Hanbury, 2nd Baron Bateman of Shobdon and Agnes Burrell Kerrison, on 24 October 1922.³ He died on 22 August 1929 at age 76 at Marlesford, Suffolk, England^G.^3,2
     He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was the Rector at Marlesford, Suffolk, England^G.¹ He held the office of Hon. Canon of St. Edmundsbury.¹ He was Hon. Chaplain to the Bishop of St. Edmundsbury.¹ He held the office of Archdeacon of Kimberley.¹

     Lillie Bowles was born in 1856 at Quebec, Canada^G.² She was the daughter of Joseph Bowles and Ann (?)^1,2 She married Venerable Hamilton Anne Douglas-Hamilton, son of Maj.-Gen. Octavius Douglas-Hamilton and Katherine Augusta Westenra Macleod, on 26 October 1875.¹ She died on 26 May 1918 at Ipswich, Suffolk, England^G.^1,2
     From 26 October 1875, her married name became Douglas-Hamilton.

     Captain Basil Sholto Anne Douglas-Hamilton was born on 11 August 1876.¹ He was the son of Venerable Hamilton Anne Douglas-Hamilton and Lillie Bowles.¹ He married Dorothy Campbell Franks, daughter of Robert Campbell Franks and Emelie Famin, on 11 September 1912 at Buenos Aires, Argentina^G.^1,2 He died on 12 April 1920 at age 43 at High Bickington, Devon, England^G.^1,2
     He gained the rank of Captan in the Army Service Corps.¹ In 1905 he was dismissed from the Army for being absent without leave.²

     Dorothy Campbell Franks was born on 7 September 1877 at Tooting Graveney^G.² She was the daughter of Robert Campbell Franks and Emelie Famin.^1,2 She married Captain Basil Sholto Anne Douglas-Hamilton, son of Venerable Hamilton Anne Douglas-Hamilton and Lillie Bowles, on 11 September 1912 at Buenos Aires, Argentina^G.^1,2
     From 11 September 1912, her married name became Douglas-Hamilton.^1,2

     Robert Campbell Franks was born in 1848 at Clapham, London, England^G.² He was the son of William Adams Franks and Mary Jane Cordey.² He married Emelie Famin, daughter of Leon Famin and Harriet Sarah Livermore.² He died on 3 June 1905 at Chelsea, London, England^G.²

     Commander James Angus Douglas-Hamilton was born on 13 August 1890 at Latimer, Buckinghamshire, England^G.^1,3 He was the son of Venerable Hamilton Anne Douglas-Hamilton and Lillie Bowles.¹ He married Joan Mary MacCormac, daughter of Surgn.-Lt. John Sides Davies MacCormac and Genevieve Muriel MacGregor, on 20 January 1938.¹ He died on 3 February 1972 at age 81.²
     He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.¹ He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918.¹ He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945.¹
