     Thomas Henry Brooke was born on 26 December 1774.1 He was the son of Thomas Digby Brooke and Agnes Kirchoffer.1 He married Anne Wright, daughter of Colonel John Alexander Wright, on 4 April 1799.1 He died on 19 June 1849 at age 74.1
     He was Secretary to the Council and Acting Governor of St. Helena.1

     He was with the Indian Telegraph Department between 1857 and 1895.1 He was Deputy Director-General between 1886 and 1887.1 He was Director-General of Telegraphs in India in 1887.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1894.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (K.C.I.E.) in 1895.1
