Maj.-Gen. Sir Edward Alexander Smyth-Osbourne was born in 1964 at Plymouth, Devon, England.1 He is the son of Major George William Smyth-Osbourne and Ann Katherine Louisa Crowder.1
He was commissioned in October 1983, in the service of the Life Guards.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)2 He was Commanding Officer of the Household Cavalry Regiment in 2005.2 He was Commanding Officer of the 38th (Irish) Infantry Brigade in 2009.2 He was Major-General of the Household Division in July 2013.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 2016.
