     William Roper was born in 1837.1 He was the son of Charles Roper and Eleanor Catherine Hore.1 He married Helena Sophia Strangman, daughter of Samuel Strangman and Maria Chaytor, on 6 December 1871 at Waterford, County Waterford, Ireland.1 He died on 6 April 1901.1
     He graduated from Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He lived at Fairfield, Artane, County Dublin, Ireland.1

Helena Sophia Strangman

     Helena Sophia Strangman was born on 1 August 1850 at Waterford, County Waterford, Ireland.1 She was the daughter of Samuel Strangman and Maria Chaytor.1 She married William Roper, son of Charles Roper and Eleanor Catherine Hore, on 6 December 1871 at Waterford, County Waterford, Ireland.2 She died on 23 February 1926 at age 75.2
     Her married name became Roper.

     Samuel Strangman was born on 19 July 1813 at Waterford, County Waterford, Ireland.1 He was the son of John Strangman and Dnah Wilson Newsom.1 He married Maria Chaytor, daughter of Joshua Mason Chaytor and Mary Alexander, on 23 February 1848 at Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He died on 28 November 1882 at age 69 at Waterford, County Waterford, Ireland.1
     He lived at Summerland, County Waterford, IrelandG.2

     William Trevor Roper was born on 20 October 1880.1 He was the son of William Roper and Helena Sophia Strangman.1 He married, firstly, Elsie Beatrice Holt, daughter of Thomas Holt, on 3 September 1913.1 He married, secondly, Janet Pegman in 1938.1 He died in 1956.1
     He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Army Service Corps attached to the Royal Garrison Artillery.1
