General John Richardson Maunsell was born on 17 June 1834.1 He was the son of Reverend Daniel Henry Maunsell and Louisa Jane Richardson.2 He married Augusta Savilline Walmer Sandwith, daughter of Colonel H. Sandwith, in 1864.1 He died on 15 December 1887 at age 53.1
