     John Denys Maitland Makgill Crichton was born on 15 December 1897.¹ He was the son of Andrew Coventry Maitland Makgill Crichton and Katharine Charlotte Hulse.¹ He married Denise Crosby, daughter of J. H. Crosby, on 24 January 1930.¹ He died on 28 October 1931 at age 33.¹
     He fought in the First World War, where he was severely wounded.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Highlanders.¹

     Denise Crosby was the daughter of J. H. Crosby.² She married, firstly, John Denys Maitland Makgill Crichton, son of Andrew Coventry Maitland Makgill Crichton and Katharine Charlotte Hulse, on 24 January 1930.¹ She married, secondly, Douglas S. Fraser on 7 December 1932.² She and Douglas S. Fraser were divorced in 1943.² She died in 1984.²
     From 24 January 1930, her married name became Maitland Makgill Crichton.¹ From 7 December 1932, her married name became Fraser.¹ From 1943, her married name became Maitland Makgill Crichton.²

     Douglas S. Fraser married Denise Crosby, daughter of J. H. Crosby, on 7 December 1932.² He and Denise Crosby were divorced in 1943.²

     Michael John Maitland Makgill Crichton was born on 25 April 1931.¹ He was the son of John Denys Maitland Makgill Crichton and Denise Crosby.¹ He married Euphemia Daphne Joan Hopkins, daughter of Alber Edward Hopkins, on 23 April 1958.¹ He died in 1998.¹
     He graduated from Rhodes University, Grahamstown, Cape Province, South Africa^G, in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He graduated from Witwatersrand University, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa^G, in 1954 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)¹ He was educated at Oriel College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.²

     Euphemia Daphne Joan Hopkins is the daughter of Alber Edward Hopkins.¹ She married Michael John Maitland Makgill Crichton, son of John Denys Maitland Makgill Crichton and Denise Crosby, on 23 April 1958.¹
     From 23 April 1958, her married name became Maitland Makgill Crichton.¹

     Alber Edward Hopkins lived at Durban, Natal, South Africa.²

     Anthony John Maitland Makgill Crichton was born on 5 February 1960.¹ He is the son of Michael John Maitland Makgill Crichton and Euphemia Daphne Joan Hopkins.¹
