Hereford [E., 1676] on 1 November 1877.1 He held the office of Hon. Canon of Christ Church, Oxford in 1880.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Berkshire.1

He fought in the Jowaki Campaign in 1877.1 He fought in the Afghan Campaign between 1878 and 1880, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He fought in the Zhob Valley Expedition in 1884.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Engineers.1 He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Hoskyns, of Harewood, co. Hereford [E., 1676] in 1911.1
