Sir John Davie, 5th Bt. was the son of Humphrey Davie and Mary White.2 He married Elizabeth Richards, daughter of James Richards and Sarah Gibbons, before 1691.2 He was also reported to have died circa December 1727.2 He was buried on 29 December 1727.2
He was educated in 1681 at Harvard College, Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A.G.2 He was a Rate Collector for Poquonock (later incorporated as Groton) in 1695 at Groton, Connecticut, U.S.A.G.2 He was the Town Clerk in 1707 at Groton, Connecticut, U.S.A.G.2 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Davie, of Creedy [E., 1641] circa March 1706/7.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Devon in 1715.2
