     He was educated at Malvern College, Malvern, Worcestershire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War in 1914, where he was mentioned in desptaches.1 He gained the rank of Squadron Commander in the Royal Flying Corps.1 He was awarded the Air Force Cross (A.F.C.)1 He gained the rank of Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the King’s Regiment.1
