Sir William Brereton, 1st Bt.1 
He was admitted to Gray’s Inn on 29 January 1622/23.2 He was created 1st Baronet Brereton, of Hanforde, co. Chester [England] on 10 March 1626/27.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cheshire from 1628 to 1629.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cheshire between 1640 and 1653.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cheshire from April 1640 to May 1640.2 He was Commander-in-Chief of the Cheshire forces against the King in 1642.2 He was on the Council of State from February 1651 to December 1651.2 He was on the Council of State from December 1652 to April 1653.2
