     Captain William Armstrong was the son of Colonel Sir Thomas Armstrong and Anna Anderson.1 He married Alice Deane, daughter of Sir Thomas Deane.1
     He received a grant under the Act of Settlement of Bohercarron and other land in County Limerick.1 He leased the old castle at Farney Castle, Farney Bridge, County Tipperary, IrelandG, (near Thurles), from the Duke of Ormonde 3 November 1670. He was followed by his brother’s widow.1 He was Commander of a Troop of Horse with the Tipperary Militia in 1688.1

     He held the office of Commissioner for Poll Tax in 1669.1 He purchased estates, including the abbey and lands of Holy Cross, Ballycahill, County Tipperary, IrelandG.1 He lived at Farney Castle, Farney Bridge, County Tipperary, IrelandG.1

     Juliana Carew was born circa 1676.2 She was the daughter of Robert Carew and Anne Lynn.1 She married, firstly, John Armstrong, son of Captain William Armstrong and Alice Deane, in 1695.1 She married, secondly, Thomas Way in 1707.1 She died on 27 November 1737, aged 61.1
     From 1695, her married name became Armstrong.1 From 1707, her married name became Way.1
