Robert Stevenson Horne, 1st Viscount Horne of Slamannan1 
Robert Stevenson Horne, 1st Viscount Horne of Slamannan was born on 28 February 1871.1 He was the son of Reverend Robert Stevenson Horne and Mary Lockhead.1 He died on 3 September 1940 at age 69.1
He was educated at George Watson’s College, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He graduated from University of Glasgow, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG, with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)1 He graduated from University of Glasgow, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was lecturer in philosophy in 1895 at University College of North Wales, Bangor, Caernarvonshire, WalesG.1 He was admitted to Scottish Bar in 1896.1 He was an examiner in philosophy between 1896 and 1900 at Aberdeen University, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.1 He was appointed King’s Counsel (K.C.) in 1910.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Engineers.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1918.1 He held the office of Third Lord of the Admiralty between 1918 and 1919.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Glasgow, Hillhead Division between 1918 and 1937.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1919.1 He held the office of Minister of Labour between 1919 and 1920.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1920.1 He held the office of President of the Board of Trade between 1920 and 1921.1 He held the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer between 1921 and 1922.1 He was chairman of the Great Western Railway Company in 1934.1 He was created 1st Viscount Horne of Slamannan [U.K.] on 9 June 1937.1 On his death, his title became extinct.1
