Colonel Sir Richard Hamilton Glyn, 5th/9th Bt.1 
He was commissioned in 1927 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Dorset Yeomanry.2 He graduated from Worcester College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1929 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He was admitted to Lincoln’s Inn in 1935 entitled to practise as a barrister.2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He gained the rank of Temporary Major in 1940.2 He gained the rank of Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel in 1944.2 He was commanding officer of the Queen’s Own Dorset Yeomanry between 1944 and 1945.2 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1945.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Dorset in 1952.2 He was commanding officer of the Queen’s Own Dorset Yeomanry between 1953 and 1956.2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1955.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for North Dorset between 1957 and 1970.2 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Elizabeth II in 1958.2 He held the office of President of the Board of Trade in 1958.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Dorset in 1960.2 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Glyn, of Ewell, Surrey [G.B., 1759] on 23 March 1960.2 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Glyn, of Gaunts, Dorset [G.B., 1800] on 23 March 1960.2 He was chairman of Cruft’s in 1963.2 He was Commissioner of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in 1965.2
