Peerage Record – 1654

     Sir Uvedale Corbet, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir Richard Corbet, 2nd Bt. and Victoria Uvedale. He married Lady Mildred Cecil, daughter of James Cecil, 3rd Earl of Salisbury and Lady Margaret Manners, on 14 August 1693.¹ He died on 15 October 1701.¹
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Corbet, of Leighton, Montgomeryshire [E., 1642].

     Hon. John Arbuthnott was born between 1667 and 1682. He was the son of Robert Arbuthnott, 2nd Viscount of Arbuthnott and Catherine Gordon.^1,2 A contract for the marriage of Hon. John Arbuthnott and Margaret Falconer was signed on 30 May 1695.³ He died circa January 1737.³ He was buried on 10 January 1737.⁴
     He lived at Fordoun, Aberdeenshire, Scotland^G.³

     John Stawell, 2nd Lord Stawell of Somerton was born circa 1668. He was the son of Ralph Stawell, 1st Baron Stawell of Somerton.¹ He married Lady Margaret Cecil, daughter of James Cecil, 3rd Earl of Salisbury and Lady Margaret Manners, in 1691.² He died on 30 November 1692.
     He gained the title of 2nd Lord Stawell of Somerton.

     Richard Jones, 1st and last Earl of Ranelagh was born on 8 February 1640/41.¹ He was the son of Arthur Jones, 2nd Viscount Ranelagh and Lady Catherine Boyle.¹ He was baptised on 11 February 1640/41. He married, firstly, Hon. Elizabeth Willoughby, daughter of Francis Willoughby, 5th Baron Willoughy of Parham and Elizabeth Cecil, on 28 October 1662.¹ He married, secondly, Lady Margaret Cecil, daughter of James Cecil, 3rd Earl of Salisbury and Lady Margaret Manners, on 9 January 1695/96.¹ He died on 5 January 1711/12 at age 70, without surviving male issue.¹
     He was educated in 1656 at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ He held the office of Governor of Roscommon Castle in 1661.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Roscommon between 1661 and 1666.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1663.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1668.¹ He held the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer [Ireland] between 1668 and 1674.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount Ranelagh [I., 1628] on 7 January 1669/70.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Jones of Navan, co. Meath [I., 1628] on 7 January 1669/70.¹ He was created 1st Earl of Ranelagh [Ireland] on 11 December 1677.¹ He held the office of Gentleman of the Bedchamber in 1679.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Plymouth between 1685 and 1687.¹ He held the office of Paymaster-General between 1685 and 1702.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newtown between 1689 and 1695.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1691/92.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Chichester between 1695 and 1698.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Marlborough between 1698 and 1700.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for West Looe between 1701 and 1703.¹ In February 1702/3 he was convicted of mis-appropriating £72,000 as Paymaster-General.¹ He was Governor of Queen Anne’s Bounty in 1704.¹ On his death his earldom became extinct, and his other titles were dormant until 1759.¹

     John Arbuthnott, 6th Viscount of Arbuthnott was born circa 1703.¹ He was the son of Hon. John Arbuthnott and Margaret Falconer.^1,2 He married by contract, firstly, Mary Douglas, daughter of Robert Douglas and Margaret Gray, on 16 April 1740.² He married by contract, secondly, Jean Arbuthnott, daughter of Alexander Arbuthnott and Margaret Ochterlony, on 4 July 1749.² He died on 20 April 1791.¹
     He succeeded as the 6th Lord Inverbervie, of co. Kincardine [S., 1641] on 8 May 1756.¹ He succeeded as the 6th Viscount of Arbuthnott, of co. Kincardine [S., 1641] on 8 May 1756.¹

     Sir William Halford, 1st Bt. married Lady Frances Cecil, daughter of James Cecil, 3rd Earl of Salisbury and Lady Margaret Manners, in 1692.¹ He died on 1 March 1708/9.¹
     He gained the title of 1st Baronet Halford, of Welham, Leicestershire.

     Margaret Falconer is the daughter of Sir James Falconer.¹ A contract for the marriage of Margaret Falconer and Hon. John Arbuthnott was signed on 30 May 1695.²
     Her married name became Arbuthnott.¹

     John Perceval, 2nd Earl of Egmont was born on 24 February 1710/11.³ He was the son of John Perceval, 1st Earl of Egmont and Catherine Parker.³ He married, firstly, Lady Catherine Cecil, daughter of James Cecil, 5th Earl of Salisbury and Lady Anne Tufton, on 15 February 1736/37.⁴ He married, secondly, Catherine Compton, Baroness Arden, daughter of Hon. Charles Compton and Mary Lucy, on 26 January 1756 at Charlton, Kent, England^G.¹ He died on 4 December 1770 at age 59 at Pall Mall, London, England.^5,4
     He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Perceval [I., 1661] on 1 May 1748.³ He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Perceval of Kanturk, co. Cork [I., 1723] on 1 May 1748.³ He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Egmont, co. Cork [I., 1733] on 1 May 1748.³ He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Perceval of Burton, co. Cork [I., 1715] on 1 May 1748.³ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)³ He was created 1st Lord Lovel and Holland, Baron Lovel and Holland of Enmore, co. Somerset [Great Britain] on 7 May 1762.³

     William Waldegrave Palmer, 2nd Earl of Selborne was born on 17 October 1859.¹ He was the son of Roundell Palmer, 1st Earl of Selborne and Lady Laura Waldegrave.¹ He married Lady Beatrix Maud Cecil, daughter of Robert Arthur Talbot Gascoyne-Cecil, 3rd Marquess of Salisbury and Georgina Alderson, on 27 October 1883.² He died on 26 February 1942 at age 82.¹
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.¹ He was educated at University College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He was Assistant private Secretary to the Chancellor of the Exchequer between 1882 and 1885.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hampshire between 1885 and 1892.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for West Edinburgh between 1892 and 1895.¹ He held the office of Under-Secertary of the COlonies between 1895 and 1900.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Selborne, co.      Captain Arthur William James Gascoyne-Cecil was born on 4 April 1875.¹ He was the son of Lord Arthur Gascoyne-Cecil and Elizabeth Ann Wilson.¹ He married Hon. Beatrice Susan Theodosia Stuart-Wortley, daughter of Charles Beilby Stuart-Wortley, 1st and last Baron Stuart of Wortley and Beatrice Trollope, on 1 December 1906.¹ He died on 26 September 1936 at age 61.¹
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England^G.¹ He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G.¹ He fought in the Boer War.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Grenadier Guards.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹
