     He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on 21 October 1948.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on 30 June 1972 in the Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars.¹ He retired from the military on 12 September 1979.²

     Jean Katharine Hamilton-Russell was born on 18 July 1907.¹ She was the daughter of Hon. Claud Eustace Hamilton-Russell and Maria Lindsay Wood.¹ She married Lt.-Col. Arthur Heywood-Lonsdale, son of Lt.-Col. Henry Heywood Heywood-Lonsdale and Hon. Helena Mabel Hamilton, on 1 June 1931.¹ She died in December 1996 at age 89 at Shropshire, England.²
     From 1 June 1931, her married name became Heywood-Lonsdale.¹ She lived at Shavington Grange, Market Drayton, Shropshire, England^G.¹

     Lt.-Col. Arthur Heywood-Lonsdale was born on 13 May 1900.² He was the son of Lt.-Col. Henry Heywood Heywood-Lonsdale and Hon. Helena Mabel Hamilton.¹ He married Jean Katharine Hamilton-Russell, daughter of Hon. Claud Eustace Hamilton-Russell and Maria Lindsay Wood, on 1 June 1931.¹ He died on 14 March 1976 at age 75 at Shropshire, England.^1,2
     He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Grenadier Guards.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹
