John Bowes, 1st and last Baron Bowes of Clonlyon1 
John Bowes, 1st and last Baron Bowes of Clonlyon was born circa 1690.1 He was the son of Thomas Bowes and unknown North.1 He died on 22 July 1767, unmarried.1 He was buried at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1 His will was proven (by probate) on 25 November 1768.1
He was admitted to Inner Temple on 6 December 1712.1 He was called to the Bar on 29 June 1718.1 He held the office of Third Serjeant [Ireland] from 1727 to 1728.1 He held the office of Second Serjeant [Ireland] between 1728 and 1730.1 He held the office of Solicitor-General [Ireland] between 1730 and 1739.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taghmon between 1731 and 1741.1 He held the office of Attorney-General [Ireland] between 1739 and 1741.1 He held the office of Chief Baron of the Exchequer [Ireland] between 1741 and 1757.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] on 23 January 1741/42.1 He was Clerk of the Paper Office [Ireland] between 1748 and 1767.1 He held the office of Lord Chancellor [Ireland] between 22 March 1757 and 1767.1 He was created 1st Lord Bowes of Clonlyon, co. Meath [Ireland] on 15 August 1758.1 He held the office of Lord Justice [Ireland] from 1765 to 1766.1 His last will was dated from 3 October 1766 to 15 July 1767.
On his death, his peerage became extinct.1
