He gained the rank of Midshipman in the Royal navy.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Anson, of Hatch Beauchamp, co. Devon [U.K., 1831] on 2 March 1918.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery.1 He fought in the Second World War.1

Devon [U.K., 1831] on 2 August 1873.1 He was Vinerian Reader of English Law between 1874 and 1881 at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He wrote the book The Law and Custom of the Constitution.1 He wrote the book Principles of the English Law of Contract.1 He was a Fellow in 1883 at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University between 1898 and 1899.1 He held the office of Chancellor of the Diocese of Oxford between 1899 and 1912.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal Unionist) for the University of Oxford between 1899 and 1914.1 He held the office of a Bencher in 1900.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Secretary for the Board of Education between 1902 and 1905.1 He was a Trustee of the National Portrait Gallery in 1904.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Oxford.1 He was a Trustee of the British Museum in 1911.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1911.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.2
