Walter V, Comte de Brienne et Lecce1

     Walter V, Comte de Brienne et Lecce was the son of Hugues, Comte de Brienne et Lecce and Isabel de La Roche.1 He married Jeanne de Châtillon-Porcéan, daughter of Gaucher V de Châtillon-Porcéan, Comte de Porcéan and Isabelle de Dreux, Dame de Nesles-en-Tardenois, in 1305.1 He died on 15 March 1311, killed in action.1
     He succeeded as the Comte de Lecce in 1296.1 He succeeded as the Comte de Brienne in 1296.1 He succeeded as the Duke of Athens in 1308.1 He tried Catalin mercenaries to help recover territory in Greece, but later fell out with them. He was killed while trying to expel them, after which they seized his Duchy of Athens.1

     Jeanne de Châtillon-Porcéan was the daughter of Gaucher V de Châtillon-Porcéan, Comte de Porcéan and Isabelle de Dreux, Dame de Nesles-en-Tardenois.1,2 She married Walter V, Comte de Brienne et Lecce, son of Hugues, Comte de Brienne et Lecce and Isabel de La Roche, in 1305.1 She died on 16 January 1354.1

     Gaucher V de Châtillon-Porcéan, Comte de Porcéan was born between 1249 and 1255.2 He was the son of Gaucher IV de Châtillon, Seigneur de Crécy, de Crèvecouer, de Troissy et de Marigny and Isabeau de Villehardouin, Dame de Lézinnes.2 He married, firstly, Isabelle de Dreux, Dame de Nesles-en-Tardenois in 1280.2 He married, secondly, Hélissende de Vergy, Dame du Fay in 1301.2 He married, thirdly, Isabelle de Rumigny, Dame de Rumigny in 1313.2 He died in 1329.2
     He held the office of Constable of France.1

     Walter VI, Comte de Brienne et Lecce was the son of Walter V, Comte de Brienne et Lecce and Jeanne de Châtillon-Porcéan.1 He married, firstly, Margaret of Taranto, daughter of Philip I, Prince of Taranto and Thamar Angelus, in December 1325.1 He married, secondly, Jeanne dEu, daughter of Raoul, Comte d’Eu et Guines and Jeanne de Mello, in 1344.1 He died on 19 September 1356 at Poitiers, FranceG, killed in action.1
     He was styled as Duke of Athens, however, he failed to recapture Athens in 1331-1332.1 He succeeded as the Comte de Lecce on 15 March 1311.1 He succeeded as the Comte de Brienne on 15 March 1311.1 He held the office of King of France’s Lieutenant in Thiérache in 1339.1 He held the office of Lord of Florence from 1342 to 1343, elected, but then deposed.1 He fought in the Battle of Poitiers on 19 September 1356, as Constable of France, where the French were defeated by the English.1
